Wacky Pest Wednesday: Ticks

 In News

Happy Wednesday, Tri-County Pest Control fans, and welcome to our latest edition of Wacky Pest Wednesday!  Today, please join us as we go over a very common spring pest: the tick.

Ticks are some of the peskiest pests that you will most likely encounter this spring and summer—they are everywhere.  From the real backwoods to your backyard, ticks can be found in great abundance.  These little guys act like real-life vampires, too, as all they want to do it to suck your blood.  This makes it probably for the tick to transmit diseases into your bloodstream, with the most notable out of the group being Lymes disease.

However, there are a few easy ways you can defend against these annoying arachnids.  For example, just taking the effort to be completely covered when you step outdoors can go a long way in keeping ticks off of you, as they will have a harder time latching onto you.  In addition, wearing a pest repellant containing DEET will keep them at bay.  No matter what precautions you use, just be sure to check yourself after a day outdoors, since they have a knack for latching on when you least expect it.  Be sure to check your armpits, groin, and scalp, and remove if necessary.

Ticks have the ability to suck the fun (and blood) out of your day, but that is no reason to let them.  Stick to the tips above, or give us a call to keep the ticks at bay!
