Wacky Pest Wednesday: Stick Bug

 In News

Happy Wednesday, Tri-County Pest Control fans!  We’re here with another edition of Wacky Pest Wednesday, and today we’re talking about the stick bug.  Enjoy!

Stick bugs, or walking stick, or stick insect, or phasmids are all different names for the common stick bug.  With their long bodies and spindly legs, you may have to do a double take when you see one, as you’ll think that they’re just a regular stick.

These critters mean no harm to you, and some will even try to keep them as pets.  As staunch herbivores, there’s nothing you have to fear from them.  So the next time you see a stick bug on your property, give them a friendly wave as you pass by.

Did you know that stick bugs are asexual?  They are one of the few insects that can reproduce without the need for a mate.  Now, how’s that for some self-reliance!

For more interesting and fun facts about pests, be sure to check back next week for our latest edition of Wacky Pest Wednesday!
