Wacky Pest Wednesday: Squirrels

 In News

Hey there all you Tri-County Pest Control fans, and welcome to our latest edition of Wacky Pest Wednesday!  Today, we invite you to join us, as we cover a real “nutty” pest: the squirrel.

Oh squirrels, wonderful squirrels.  These fellas can range from cute and cuddly (like that one from Ice Age) to down right nasty and annoying (think: neighborhood rascal), thanks to their pesky habits.  Acorns aren’t the only things these pests love, as they will look at any opportunity to get inside in your home as an open invitation.  With the temperature rising, squirrels will be trying their hardest to get a cool break from the outdoors in your humble abode, but so long as you adhere to these simple tips, you can avoid that issue entirely.

Take advantage of this warm weather and bright days by clearing out brush from the side of your home, and remove any branches that may be touching your roof; all of these provide cover and a means for squirrels to scurry close to your home.  If you have fruiting plants right near your siding, try to transplant them to your garden or a patch of land away from the side of your home.  Same goes for bird feeders, as these guys just LOVE to snatch as many seeds as they can carry.  Also, do your due diligence and do a quick check of your exterior, ensuring that there are no cracks in the siding, windows, or anywhere else a squirrel may have access to.  The best way to prevent squirrels from coming in is to think like a squirrel.

For more tips on squirrel prevention, or to get some help on removal should one of those sneaky critters get in, just give us a call.  One call to us is all you need for all your pest prevention needs!

Enjoy your Wednesday!
