Wacky Pest Wednesday: Spiders

 In News

Happy Wednesday to all you Tri-County Pest Control fans out there; we hope you all had a great Halloween!  While the holiday may be over, there are still plenty of frightening pests around, so please join us for our latest edition of Wacky Pest Wednesday as we cover the spider.  Enjoy!

Oh spiders—everyone has an opinion on them, from the arachnophobe to the arachnologist.  Love them, hate them, or indifferent, spiders are definitely a pest you should keep an eye on at all times.

All spiders may not be harmless (in fact, the majority of spiders do not want to hurt you, and they are great at reducing the number of other pests that you have in your home, like flies and mosquitoes) but the ones that do cause harm can cause great harm.  For example, the brown recluse and black widow species can inject a venom into their human victim, which could require immediate medical attention.  Should you spot either of these types of spiders inside, it pays to call a pest-control company right away for both the health of your family and the sanity of your mind.  However, so long as you keep a few defense strategies in mind, you shouldn’t have to worry about those eight-legged critters anymore.

Since spiders love cluttered spots, do your due diligence and try to declutter your home as much as possible, so you’ll limit the number of hiding spots that they have (they aren’t call the brown recluse spider for nothing).  In addition, by continuing the common pest-control tactic of plugging holes in the siding of your home, and making sure that all of your screens are intact, you can greatly reduce the number of critters that get inside—even spiders.

But, no plan is ever perfect, so when the going gets tough and you notice a few spiders scurrying around your home, feel free to pick up the phone and give us a call.  We’ll be over in no time, and you can be assured that those nasty pests will be out for good.

Have a great Wednesday!
