Wacky Pest Wednesday: Fruit Flies
Happy Wednesday to all you Tri-County Pest Control fans out there, and welcome to our latest edition of Wacky Pest Wednesday. Join us today as we cover a very bothersome pest: the fruit fly.
Fruit flies are often seen as quite a nuisance in the home, as they seem to appear out of practically nowhere and seem to hover around for a while. Well, believe it or not, the main reason as to why they appear out of thin air is that their eggs can already be in your home. Fruit flies love to lay their eggs on moist surface, including inside your drain, under your sink, or even in your laundry. With an extremely high reproduction rate (500 eggs per cycle) your fruit fly problem could become a real nasty one if not taken care of soon!
Thankfully, there are a few easy ways to keep the fruit flies at bay. The first may be a little redundant—throw away any rotting fruit in your home. Fruit flies love rotting fruit, so by eliminating their food source you effectively eliminate their infestation chances. You can also create a simple trap for fruit flies by putting apple cider vinegar and a few drops of dish soap into a container, covering with plastic wrap, and poking small holes in it. The flies will be attracted to the scent, but trapped by the wrap.
Now, you can scour the Internet for days looking for the perfect solution to your fruit fly infestation, or you can turn to Tri-County Pest Control for effective solutions in a fraction of the time. With a combination of time-tested and new-aged tactics, you can be sure that your fruit fly infestation will plague you no longer when you choose to deal with us.
