In honor of TBT, today, we’re sharing with you a Fun Pest Fact that is steeped in history!

Did you know that the oldest living species of insect on the planet is the Mite? Those these pests are tiny, their family tree is mighty, dating back almost 570 million years ago.

That’s old!

According to a study published by the journal, Science, it was noted that the very first mite walked the earth even before dinosaurs did. That’s a long lineage.

Mites are arthropods and are distantly related to spiders and crustaceans.
