Wacky Pest Wednesday: Fleas

 In News

A very happy Wednesday to all you Tri-County Pest Control fans out there, and welcome to our latest edition of Wacky Pest Wednesday.  Today, please join us as we cover a pest that is the bane of every pet owner’s existence: the flea.

A flea circus or a flea market are certainly things that we can all enjoy, but the actual critter is an entirely different story.  Small, parasitic, and possessing a penchant to jump everywhere, the flea can become quite annoying.  However, the real cause for concern with fleas is the rate in which they multiply (hint: it’s really, really fast).

Indeed, this raises a problem when trying to combat fleas.  Sure, giving your pet some flea medication will surely get the critters off of their back (quite literally) but it won’t really have an impact on the hundreds of flea eggs and larvae that are wiggling around in the fibers of your carpet or in-between the cushions of your couch.  That is why when you see a flea hopping around, your first instinct should be to call a pest-control company, so that the root of the problem can be dealt with for good.  While it may not be your fault on how the fleas spread in the first place—they are often spread through another dog or animal that already has fleas, or just unfortunately picked up in the outdoors—you need to do your due diligence to take care of them if they unfortunately end up in your home.  This entails calling a reputable and trusted pest control agency to treat the problem in your home, and a quick visit to the vet to see how they can make your beloved Fido feel better.

Fleas are certainly no fun, but they don’t have to be a permanent problem that you have to deal with.  One call to Tri-County Pest Control is all you need to ensure that your flea problem will be a thing of the past.

Fact: Did you know that fleas can jump as high as 8 feet?  If we equate that with height of the flea itself, it is about 150 times larger—the equivalent of a human jumping over a skyscraper!
