• Clutter impedes the effectiveness of Thermal Remediation® so “declutter” as much as possible (think spring cleaning).
  • Remove pets – birds fish, cats, snakes, etc.
  • Remove house plants. You may put them outside if temperature permits.
  • Remove wax products – crayons, candles, etc. They will likely melt and could stain or damage surfaces.
  • Remove all alcohol – wine, beer, etc. (or place in Refrigerator). The heat may affect taste and dry out corks.
  • Place medicine in the fridge, and take what you need with you.
  • Remove all firearms and ammo, gun powder, fireworks, etc.
  • Take down all plastic blinds or pull them all the way up – the heat can make them droop.
  • Remove makeup, nail polish, etc.
  • Remove items that contain alcohol – rubbing alcohol, nail polish remover, etc. These items will likely evaporate, and could create harmful fumes.
  • Remove batteries, both from equipment and spares.
  • Remove aerosol products and – paint, hair spray, deodorizers, etc.
  • Secure money and valuables.
  • Remove oils, especially full containers, as they may expand and leak.
  • Remove compressed gasses. Containers could expand and burst.
  • Remove all flammables – matches, lighters, etc. There is no ignition source in our heaters, but the dry environment during a heat treatment increases static electricity.
  • Unplug all electronics – TV, computers, etc. REMOVE ALL PLASMA TV’S.
  • The crew will be going into all the drawers and closets. If there is anything you don’t want the crew to find, please secure it.
  • Pictures will be taken down off the walls. The pictures will not be hung back up because temperatures will still be too hot, and we don’t want frames to warp.
  • Please let the crew know about any oil paintings you have.
  • The cover under all furniture and box springs may be removed for better heat penetration.
  • Please make sure that clothing hanging in closets are not packed too tightly.
  • Drawers should be no more than 50% full of clothing.
  • Remove cassette tapes, video tapes, records, photo albums, and negatives.
  • DVDs, CDs, video games, and other discs should be placed in new disc binders and cases should be disposed of.
  • All items removed should be placed in a “NO HEAT” box by the door. We will inspect these items to ensure that bed bugs are not reintroduced after treatment.
