Rodents, especially rats and mice, are a common problem in our service area. They can reproduce very quickly and efficiently, meaning a small population can easily grow out of control. Often, the search for food can draw rodents indoors. Likewise, inclement weather can also drive rodents into your home in search of shelter. Once present, rats and mice are dangerous pests to have around. Not only do they love to chew on wiring, potentially causing electrical fires, but both rats and mice are known disease vectors. For example, deer mice can carry the potentially fatal Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome. You can catch this illness through contact with mouse carcasses or by inhaling aerosolized urine droplets of infected mice.
The most important step in a rodent prevention is sanitation and maintenance. Rodents need adequate food, water, and shelter to thrive so eliminating their access to these things must be a priority.
Inspection is the first step in making and keeping your structure rodent free. We will Identify the location (or locations) where the rodents entered in the first place. As long as your property is accessible to them from the outside, rodents will keep coming in no matter what you do to try to get rid of them.
After exclusion and sanitation measures are exhausted, Tri-County Termite & Pest Control uses a variety of methods for a complete rodent solution. The old standard “mouse / rat trap” uses bait to lure them into a trap which is removed (along with the rodent) from your property. We also use specialized single-feeding anti-coagulants which kill the rodents quickly with minimal risk to humans or other non-target animals.
